August 2006. Kyrgyzstan. Issuk-Kul Lake.

After the European trip we have returned in Kyrgyzstan. We had a quiet flight back from Brussels to Moscow, where we spent about 10 hours wating our flight to Bishkek, then we had the last flight of our travel from Moscow to Bishkek's airport 'Manas'.

Having an overnight in Bishkek we rushed on the next morning to Issyk-Kul Lake to our daughter, our parents and grandparents. The rest of the free time we had we decided to spend for nothing to do - just for full relaxation near the beautiful lake Issuk-Kul (so-called 'pearl of Tien-Shan'). We had to muster our strength for te next coming working year in the big city. The Issyk-Kul area has a perfect climate for the rest so we were enjoying having the beautiful weather and pollution-free fruits and vegetables of this region.

Lyuba - our daughter - met us with the great elation. That was first time for her to be without parents for such a long period of time. But she was ok - she helped grandmoter at her work and was quiet (as she is usual). While we were aroad we phoned to Lyuba and she asked to bring some gifts for her (one gift for one day she is without us). So we brought a full bags of some presents - clothes, toys and other pleasant trifles.

These two weeks we spent on the Issyk-Kul lakeshore in the house of my moter-in-law. That was great to live not far from the lake - everyday were going to swim and play in the water, going to gather some herbs and flowers to take them in Novosibirsk, talking with our relatives and friends living in Karakol and Pristan-Prjevalsk. So - we had a great relaxation time there - thanks to weather.

The best pictures of Issyk-Kul Lake, Karakol town and us are posted here. Same as in other articles I have added the description to every photo and you can read then either clicking on thumbnail or in tool tips...

Bishkek. Karakol's Ashlyamfu (Ashlyam-fu) + recipe.
On the next morning after arriving to Bishkek we had a car to Karakol (Issyk-Kul region). At the photo we are driving in Boom canyon and passing an eagle sculpture on the way.
The road Bishkek - Karakol.
There is only one railway line in Issyk-Kul region of Kyrgyzstan. This line connects Bishkek - the capital of Kyrgyztan and Balykchy - the town in western part of Issyk-Kul region. No more railways are there. It was planned to build new line from Balykchy to some coal mine in the mountains but I am not sure it is in progress now. At the photo: railway in Boom canyon goes through the mountains and sometimes has some dangerous parts covered with special tunnels.
On the way from Bishkek to Karakol. Railway.
This is a view of sandy/clay small mountains near Balykchy town when you exiting from Boom canyon. Balykchy town has a few other names before ('Rybachye' - in the former USSR times, and 'Issyk-Kul' after USSR was broken).

The last mountains of Boom canyon on the way from Bishkek to Karakol. Further we have new mountains range - Kungey Ala-Too and resort famous town - Cholpon-Ata.

Some more interesting mountains/hills. Clay or sand is one of components of there small rocks. Near town Balykchy (former Rybachye or Rybachie)

Upon arrival to Karakol we immediately decided to go to Issyk-Kul Lake - we missed it very much. I offered my shoulders as a seat for Lyuba and we went to the lakeshore.

I have visited my mother, grandfather and grandmother. They live near Karakol town, right on the shore of Issyk-Kul in the village called 'Pristan' - that means pier or wharf. At the photo: my mother - Shetinina Olga. I am proud to be her son, really.
Pristan. My mother.
My dear grandfather, Emtsev Semyon. I love hime very-very much and also very proud to be his grandson. Thanks to him I learnt a lot in this life and have some skills I couldn't achieve without him.

This is an old, well-known to local people, bridge over the Karakol river. This bridge was reconstructed recently, after it was almost completely broken, and now it's looking well, having a part of gibbet as a base.

This is a house number 38 on the Djakypova street. My friend Kammerzell Eugen (In Germany now), my classmate Khalturina Olesya (in Russian east now), my callsmate Shapovalov Yury (somewhere near Omsk in Russia now) lived here in the times of our childhood.

Local young men, for geting more adrenalin, decided to dive not just from pier but from the lorry cabin parked on pier.
Issyk-Kul. Extreme jumping/diving.
Before swimming we tested the water of the lake, it was warm enough.

Yes, she is ready to swim in the usual clothing, just let her do it! Indeed, she loves to swim in Issyk-Kul Lake.
Lyuba is starting to swim.
"Why should I wait? The water is warm..." said Lyuba trying to go swimming in Issyk-Kul Lake.
Lyuba. Why to wait?
She was so offended when we said to wait a little before swimming. It was a little bit windy and we asked her to wait.
Offended Lyuba.
There is no problem with lack of fruits and vegetables. And even from the fresh water melon you can construct a boat and put it out to lake.
Water melon is the boat.
While it was not good to swim, we allowed Lyuba to dangle her legs in the water sitting on the old pier.
Lyuba. Wiating for our permission.
I decided to swim first. Yes, the water wasn't too warm at that day and I swam a little around.
I have started first.
At that day Lyuba swam too. With my help.
Me and Lyuba.
After swimming we sat at coverlet to warm ourselves on the sun.
Happy after swimming in Issyk-Kul Lake.
My heels didn't become sunburnt, unfortunately.
Me and new way for swimming.
That was a perfect morning to have a walk to Issyk-Kul Lake. It has mirror-like surface and we wanted to try to swim...
